I understand that the website does all the calculations for me, but being an engineer I typically learn better through actually messing with equations, seeing where they're derived from and applying them myself.

I have great credit and day job income and qualify for a disgustingly huge mortgage level, even without rents included so mortgages are not an issue for me.

For me Bayonne was a good mix of an area I was willing to live (near NYC, walkable, good parks for kids) and invest in (relatively high rent to purchase ratio and reason for appreciation).Happy to provide more info on the area if you have specific questions.

I don't know that residency will be as time consuming for me as it may have been for a surgical subspecialty like urology since I am going into psychiatry (most residents I talk to say that after intern year it really levels out, and more than 80 hours a week during the first year is extremely uncommon with less than 60 after that being average).
