Hello everyone, I’m trying to figure out if you have rented out a property for two years but the first year you have the lease sign at the end of the year and only have like 3 or 4 months of rental income on the schedule E let’s say (2016) and the other year full rental income on the schedule E (2017), which technically that is two years but since it was at the end of the year it looks like it wasn’t a full year of rent.

To report this, I fill out Schedule E which will show the total loss (negative value) which then transfers to 1040 Schedule 1, Part 1, Line 5 as negative.
