It is in a large (not huge) city 3 minutes walk to major University.

It is a very active job that takes a decent amount of work and time.What areas are you able to afford (for flipping you really should be working in or around the city you live in to start out)?

Currently buying in Michigan City and surrounding area, very interested in SB. 

Just a thought. still suggest that given the city council just voted to ban STR in all but your primary home and even that for just 1/2 the year?

Also I believe legally in L.A you can only rent out the house a certain number of days since city has been restricting short term rentals .Guess I’ll be interesting to see if the house sells for more than the comps in the area .I live in L.A and it doesn’t seem like celebrity owned homes necessarily sell for more but I don’t know if this is different .

Any other cities I should look into?

Also it has city water and sewer which is metered separately and paid by tenants. 

We spoke with city water department and he said don't worry about it.

You can call the city, make sure there are no liens or scheduled work to be done in the area..... had a house last year, seller didn't disclose that the city was requiring new sewer line in the neighborhood.

Almost every larger city has an online gis map that provides the info.
