Questions to ask the realtor, inspector, etc?

Do we as investors simply contact a lead inspector of our choosing?

You could also contact the municipal building inspector as they may have plats for the property.

Can anyone recommend a good property inspector in the Hartford, CT area?

For me it would be huge waste of time to have a contract written up and then schedule an inspection, even if it were me going over to look at it before the scheduling the inspector.

So on day of inspection there were a few problems worth addressing, including a very small leak from the attic into the upstairs bathroom (it just so happen to be raining on day of inspection) that turned out to be a half dollar size hole in the roof (per inspector).

I am living in Indianapolis with my wife and 3 kids.  

Do you have the opportunity to bring in an inspector to understand what you are getting yourself into?  

A big deal to me is building, the municipalities and building inspectors are notoriously difficult to deal with.
