I would have the freedom to walk away with ease from situations I didn't like.In my case, I was told to buy the most house I could afford because it would always go up in price and by paying down the mortgage, my net worth would always be increasing.

(i did check with the apartment and they said either pay the full 1 year lease and get out or stay till contract is over... i was mad but had no choice). however, luck was on my side since i also got another job with an increase in salary.

Many see it as a sign of an area uptrend, but I just don't see the necessary population and jobs increase nor downtown revitalization to warrant this much of a rise.Note: sorry this may be a little more long winded than you were looking for.
