I've had good luck lately with State Farm, Farmers, American Family, Allstate, USAA and California Casualty up in the mountains/ close-in mountains.

If you ever want to check the validity of a lender, you can look for them on the American Association of Private Lenders member directory (not compulsory but shows they have an interest in best practices and ethics in lending),ask for them NMLS number (again not compulsory but could be a way to check if they offer one) and also you can check public records in your area for the lender's name if they have funded loans in your area before.There is a book on the BiggerPockets website about private lending that will deep dive into private lending, and give you a lot of information from the lender's perspective that can help you in talks with individuals who you may want to get capital from for your real estate deals.
