one guess is that the lien was there when the bank foreclosed and it will still be there until the statutory sunset period has elapsed which is about 150 days post trustee or sherrifs sale.. now this is not a big deal for a cash buyer IRS never redeems or should i say its quite rare .. but you will not be able to get a lender to loan you money on the property until that lien sunsets..if the IRS does redeem they owe I think its about 9% interest.. also you can only do repairs necessary to keep the house basically winterized..
