Anything more than a B type area and B building I wouldn't buy unless you are right down the street and local to the area.   

Probably the one that I'm most confused about is hearing people rank neighbourhoods (A,B etc). 

There are many other areas of California where prices are still affordable but they have high unemployment, crime, drug use, etc. since AB 109 and Prop 47.
