Some other things to watch out for:Make sure you know what landscaping/ fencing work is your responsibility, lots of builder only include front yard landscaping, if any and you are left with 25k+ in costs for HOA mandates fences and other backyard landscaping costs.Get an inspection, I have heard stories of things like HVAC vents not every being connected to the main system.Assume that you will spend an extra 10% of your base price in the "design lab" if you are still in an early enough phase in construction to chose design features.

Can you have someone complete a maintence of the building check list monthly( caulking, landscape, windows, magic pacs, sidewalks , salt in the softner ... all the fun stuff. what i have found is the owner that has a system in place and makes it a priority has the best buildings.
