You will probably have signed a 1 year lease for the rental space that you are on the hook for whether your business succeeds or not.Maybe you could do a modified house hack on a rental space, rent a place with good AirBnB potential, live in it unless it is rented out then couch surf until you get your place back.

I was surfing sect 8 discussions and may as we'll revive this one since I can add to it.I have over 10 sect 8 houses in a $30k retail 3/1 neighborhood...sect 8 pays about the same that free market tenants do...$700 a month.Having been at this for going on 5 yrs, sect 8 houses rent and STAY RENTED normally by the same tenant.

Overall, I'd say it's a safe purchase if you can do something like like in it and short-term rental it because I'm not sure how much you're trying to put down to cash flow surf or even if you're going to catch an appreciation wave S of 290/71/Ben White.
