I decided to rent to them anyways - not because they invoked the morality of their religion or because I believed that their religion would keep them honest - but because one of them was also trying to leave a destructive relationship and I'm a total sucker for that kind of thing (having been in one myself at one point in my life).When they missed the next month's rent payment, there was no mention of their religion then.

It was near the holidays, and I wanted to remodel the building and morally couldn't evict the tenants during that time, so offered a "large" cash-for-keys if they moved out before Dec 1, less if by Jan 1, and even less if by Feb 1.
