I can see that too coming from a corporate environment leans toward less social responsibility and regulatory matters where value or profits require much less justification.

Brian is right, single member LLCs came under regulatory scrutiny back in 2009, due to abuses that were being discovered in these so-called "checkbook control IRAs".

As an old has been regulator, I can tell you that we looked to the intent of a law, regulation or rule just as much as to the letter of it.

One reason I never had an issue with regulatory matters was due to the care taken in all written materials, any business plan, project, lending relationship, advertising or proposal never had interest rate guarantees or implications of profits.

It turned out to be arson - revenge on a tenant (go figure) - but when the fire department was examining the integrity of building once the fire was extinguished, they found a body in the attic.
