My exit will be to eventually sell the properties to another investor, at discount but by then I'll have earned my return. 

That house was a house hack where I eventually rented out the entire place.

I am hoping to wind up with a MF property that I can hold for a while and use one unit as a parttime 'second home' residence for frequent trips to Charlotte, and eventually use the equity in the property to leverage the next property.

I want every rental I buy free and clear within 10 years of buying it and eventually (in 3-4 years) I will switch to strictly cash purchases, and maybe leverage only for larger properties.  

Then eventually save up and pay it all off.

I was able to pull that back out eventually to get my $12k back, and then move onto the next one!

Hello,I've been searching for the answer to this question, but can't seem to find a solid answer - looking for a CPA who knows.I purchased a SFH in 2014 with the intent to rent it out (which I have) and eventually tear it down and build a home on the lot for my personal residence. 

It was slow at first, but the more it improved the more desirable it became, and eventually It turned into a land gold mine that today that is some of the most expensive real estate in LA. 

This is a goal I'll eventually develop.
