Planning on buying my first property: 2 bed room condo in near/in Dallas and renting out the other unit to a friend.

With good appreciation comes increased taxes, and it seems like Dallas has been pretty aggressive about property valuations for tax appraisal purposes.

Most recently I was looking for a stay in Dallas for two nights on the weekend and I couldn't find anything that wasn't close to $500 near where I wanted to stay, so I went to Booking.com and was able to book a hotel room that was very highly rated for $202 total. 

Note, here in the Dallas/Ft.
