I would definitely recommend talking to an attrnoy pertaining these new changes if they affect you  (: Here is a link that goes directly to the council members the one Bettina listed is a general page: https://my.spokanecity.org/citycouncil/members/Also if you live in Spokane, find the council member in your district and give them a call, and or email and tell them what you think about the changes Bettina mentioned.

@Mitchell HareCan't speak to how things are done in your area, but I know of an individual who has done work on a home that is in the historic district out here and he said that all plans and designs had to be approved by the historical registry/society.

The problem with B+ areas with good school district and low crime is that it is hard to find run down homes that I can buy for cheap and generate equity.

I believe Gatewood does not fall under any of the OKC historic preservation districts, so you should have much more leeway on what you can and cannot do from an HP perspective (https://www.okc.gov/departments/planning/design-review-and-historic-preservation/historic-preservation)It's an Urban Conservation District, though: http://www.gatewoodokc.com/about-us

The historic district proper is pretty safe (there is a neighborhood supported security patrol) but there will be issues with the preservation committee.
