Well the truth is this - if the property is on the MLS, the seller has already signed an agreement to pay a certain percentage for the sale (5-6%).

@Nick StangoThere's really no value in a 15 year mortgage if you have a choice.If your goal is to pay the place off as quickly as possible, you might as well take a longer amortization and make extra payments.

In the end though, it shouldn't matter, they can tell the truth or lie, thats up to them, you will see it when you put it under contract anyway I think.Bottom line is, If the price is right, and the figures add up to you, it should not really matter.
