Side note - if you have a dispute with your contractor I highly recommend trying to work it out with them before filing a complaint with the state Licensing agency. 

You would need to talk to your broker about this, and it will depend on several factors, such as what kind of listing agreement and agency relationship does your brokerage have with the seller?

There are also rules about it so your best bet is to read up on it and find an intermediary agency that you can use for a future 1031.
