I think though one has to be judicious going forward were you think your going to do it. and make sure you have proper permits.I am building some new construction in Charleston SC right now.. and putting a second home on each lot that I am hoping who ever buys these will take into consideration that they can short term rent those.. thereby pay me more money for my new builds :)

The process of hiring the right contractor, permits, etc. was a little bit difficult but we found the right people and the city inspectors helped a lot during the whole process.

If you have old wooden windows, the lead inspector won't bother to take swabs, they'll simply fail you for old wooden (friction) windows.
