Unfortunately, our inspection suggested some minor structural damage, but we've since come to find out that we'll likely need to tear the structure down and completely start from scratch. 

Folks don't generally spend big bucks to tear a house up.  

I agree with Ryan Moyer - I also think STR have less wear and tear on your property. -  

We are now facing having to tear out all the layers of the ceiling and the insulation we just added.

Intro…Keeping with the spirit of @J Scott 's  “Diary of a New Construction Project” where we jumped into a HUGE project that we never really had done before, “Tear a house down and build a new one back”.

I need to do some wear and tear type of work and also want to install few new things such as Microwave with hood and wooden floor polish.

Miami florida but i am really wondering assuming i have to tear doen and redo the whole floor and fundationwhats thebduration of such projects obiusly it would mean new 2 bathrooms as well fundation repair new floor joosts sub floor etc.is this project takes long time and how costly can it get 

With something this minor, I’ve gone in with simple letter or tabloid tear sheets to add to permit set. 

Also, you have to think about wear and tear on your property.

Taking this to the extreme, I would just tear down the existing building and start from scratch, being sure to build it to my (read: highest) standards.
