That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid while still attempting to use vinyl flooring.This wasn't an issue when they built the house in that the floors were wood, and they breathed...no different than the first line item in building code exceptions §1203.4.2 which states "where warranted by climatic conditions, ventilation openings to the outdoors are not required if ventilation openings to the interior are provided"....but we aren't talking about code here, we're talking about solutions to an existing problem without spending a ton of money.

How I would determine it: if the unit tends to be difficult to rent; if it attracts the kind of renters I try to avoid; if I could easily replace it at a lower price and make a significant profit from selling it; if I had too many units or was tired of dealing with that particular unit (high maintenance, for example).

There are differences, however; a contractor working with a PM is likely only going to see a few, full blown remodels a year, whereas a flipper is going to live and breath that kind of work.
