You have no rights to the property until the tax deed is filed at the Charleston County Register of Deeds (ROD) conveying the property to you as the new owner.Once again in this post - go work with a good attorney in your state that is familiar with these rules, along with your CPA (local or not) to walk through the analysis as it applies to your particular jurisdictions. 

That well has supplied water to my new property for 40+ years.

If you think not having the headache of vetting a new market and finding new property management makes more sense than the possibility of appreciation in a different market then you have your answer and the simple solution works best for you.

I haven't seen anything below $3,000 in Texas for RC in a couple years unless the home is brand new.
