Long story short, we had some issues with the remodel, we're still not moved in, but we're confident now we will be moved in October.The fortunate part of this is that during these 9 months, the property values of both of our houses have skyrocketed.

Moral of the story, many won’t need a license but it works well for those plan to use it more often than not.

If s/he works and lives in the UK but file taxes in Canada, that's a different story.

In terms of running numbers, if you aren't seeing the properties, running the numbers won't help you learn anything because the costs are just percentages that others use and on-site, it's a whole different story when you see what is there.

Even though we try to help and offer advice to the new folks trying to get into this crazy business, it is downright amusing seeing the growing numbers showing up asking us to analyze their potential deals and suggest areas to invest.....usually with little apparent knowledge or effort on their parts....This business has the unfortunate appearance of being 'easy money' because the stories abound about the people that are sitting on properties worth millions.

I would need to have years of knowledge of the company and multiple local success AND failure stories before I thought about it, and my first, second, and third thoughts would really be, WHY CAN'T I DO THIS MYSELF?

Does anyone have a story around investing in a “dying city” meaning steady population decrease, steady jobs decrease, and generally not a lot going for it?
