I have read stories on here where people offer above the asking price, but the debt service is 100% principal payments.

But holding what should, IMHO, be short-term debt would keep me up at night looking for monsters under the bed.

Why not sell the inherited property and be free of the loan debt.

My philosophy is that I can always go into credit card debt and pay 20%+ interest to them in an emergency, but I choose to have an emergency fund and pay the price of losing to inflation (~3%) instead.
