But if you were to replace it, I would make sure to use that time to insulate the house and take care of old pluming and possibly electical wires since it is probably a system lacking a ground wire being 1950's built, When I visited my sister in Florida, I noticed most of the houses built in her area (New Smirna Beach) are cinder block construction.

When I got back to the office I did a quick Zillow search and found out that it last sold in 2005 for $106,000, then I looked for comps within a six block radius and found two that have sold in 2013 for between $100-110K.

This all happened because the old 1940's short plat started from one side of the "block"...and the guy who owned the far corner parcel (the other side of the block) subdivided his "20 acre parcel" and in order to account for the full 20 acres, they had to start measurements from the other side of the block.
