This alone is a complex issue as the buyer needs to be able to make repairs and improvements, seeing that they are professionally done is another matter.

I'd imagine there isn't enough time to get a conventional loan approved for the property before the auction date?

The structure could be damaged or even destroyed during that time.

These are professionals with additional training and a stricter code of ethics.

I am not familiar with amending in Turbotax, but one thing to note is on the timeline for filing amends (you have some time still, but also good to be aware): Generally, to claim a refund, you must file an amended return within 3 years after the date you filed your original return or 2 years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later. 

I have done this myself multiple times.
