Have you thought about renting out rooms in a house instead of STR or renting the entire house?

Recently, I accidentally got back into it because I own a home and plan on renting it out.

My first attempt at renting my SFH resulted in bad tenants damaging my home and I had to fire my property management company. 

I rented the house for 3 years during which time I made back the 50K I was out of pocket and then sold the house for 200K, which was all profit.

It's not a typical vacation spot but STR or MTR could get higher rent.

Always ask for the rent ledger vs the rent roll.

I purchased a SFH in Cleveland, Ohio and I’m having trouble renting it out.

I have never purchased a home before but in the town I would potentially move to renting makes little sense do to the cost of housing prices.
