In a place like Newark, if you don't properly secure the house and there is work stoppage, you risk vandalism and theft. one time on the day of closing during the walk thru, we discovered all the copper water lines were gone in the basement.

A paid mentor is like an investment.... just like college....and just like other investments it really depends on WHO you pick, how good they are, the actual cost and most importantly what YOU get out of it.Some mentors will be worth every penny...... other will be a total scam....... others will be a waster of time and $$ because the person doesn't actually utilize what they are being taught, so its not the fault of the mentorI don't think I would ever pay a mentor.......

Unfortunately some of the investors I've spoken to have this mentality that "the best deals aren't listed", which is a ludicrous idea to me, because no one is exactly going to call you to an alleyway pulling a house out of trench coats, but nonetheless, I'm curious as to what the biggerpockets' community thinks of this situation.
