I understand there alot of "shoulds" in the post but:.....It is my understanding that the only liens that survives first mortgage foreclosure are HOA, prop. taxes, utility bills, irs liens which has a redemption period as only recourse, and liens recorded before first mortgage, which unless bank and title company really messed up shouldn't exist.

If you have the money it is worth a try-make the Ira deposit before the 60 days run out and tell the new Ira custodian it is a rollover so it gets coded correctly on the irs form 5498 If you have the money why not just pay back the 401k unless they the 401k won’t allow it?

As for paying / saving for your yearly taxes, the IRS has a website that you can direct deposit into - which I do after my commission check gets direct deposited into my bank account.
