When someone says they will use their own money or do the physical work themselves to save they really aren't saving they are making an equal trade where there is 0 gain.  

I feel like it's all relative though, if there are decent deals in your market on the MLS than there are slightly better deals at auction, but thats because they aren't as easy to obtain.
