As far as doing the admin work, people get hired into such roles for such developers.

Along the way I've gained some familiarity with the role each plays in the development process and had much practice in communicating with a broad range of professionals and personalities. 

Like you said, it seemed like those who were able to pivot to longer term stays for a period of time were able to weather it.

I have been looking into other strategies to pivot and still keep the ball rolling.
