I bought a foreclosure in 2009 (sold for 475 in 2006, had some renovations/granite, foreclosed, bought for 255k in 09, worth about 400k now with ~40k of gross rental income) in Reston that was a 4 br 3 ba.

Then you can use Zillow in most areas (but not all areas) to see what year the house was last sold and for how much.
