My options were to file and amend the return when i get K1's vs not filing and applying for extension until Oct.Based on my current tax situation I was actually receiving a fairly substantial refund from the IRS and my CPA he has recommended we file return and then amend the return when we get the new K1's as opposed to file an extension since I'm being offered a refund from the IRS.

As I am probably going to repatriate in 4-5 years time, the vision is that by the time I do so, I will have a small fortune of 9-10 rental properties to manage and receive substantial passive income from. 

Have you ever seen prices come down on anything substantial for the long term?

With current rents rising substantially in recent months/years, the old purchase price comparison for this type of property can't be used to determine if it's a good deal or not.

With the oldest housing stock in the country, those are expensive and in high demand in Maine.FHA, USDA and VA loans all require substantially the same inspection and there is an enormous list of items that will trigger a failure. 

But in doing so, even within the same zip code, the variability between rents is substantial.

They have an unfortunate history of volatility in many cases.... unless you are willing to put down a more substantial downpayment, you may have difficulty finding a conventional lender to fund your vacation home/STR asset.
