I haven't been there yet, I'm looking at taking a drive this weekend.  

When I was a young mom, I was buying houses and taking my toddler with me when I renovated and did drive by's.

Or should I play it safe and wait until my current job can pay for the mortgage even if the property is not being rented out.

@Dominique MicklesYou should be able to find some cash flowing properties in chicago or at least within a 2 hour driving radius of the city.There are deals out there that are profitable - you just need the experience analyzing deals.

I already started driving around looking at properties to skip trace, but I hear you can buy a list of numbers.

I find getting loans on the residential side of a bank tedious and time consuming and dealing with Freddie and Fannie arduous. 2) If you are going to manage the properties yourself, before buying the property ask yourself would you drive there at 11PM in January?
