I can't speak to the legalities of this situation but one of the issues is if the utilities are off the pipes can freeze so you need to keep this in mind if you don't keep them on you need to protect against this.

I'm asking this out of pure protection concerns, cost is not an issue as I have found my friends Insurance Company is able to keep the commercial premiums the same as the residential policies.
