Since they don't communicate directly with the buildings department, even permitted work can go unnoticed until the property is put up for sale.If there was something opened in 2006 for work, you can go to the buildings department and review the permit to see if it was for the attic or something else.Either way, it's mostly a non issue.Buildings departments have hot button issues related to things like major work being performed without a permit.

That being said, if the other two showers have tubs and everyone in the household has the ability to access the other "tubs" then I don't see this as something you should be required to fix.
