The monthly rent would likely be lower, but the entry costs and potential regulatory hurdles might also be less.Here are my main considerations:Rental Income: Higher in Berkeley ($2k/month) vs. potentially lower in the Midwest.Appreciation: Likely higher in Berkeley.Management: Easier to manage the ADU since it's close to home, but more regulatory headaches.Diversification and Simplicity: Potentially less hassle with a property in the Midwest.Given these factors, what would you recommend?

It is very challenging to get your AirBnB license unless you are renting out YOUR UNIT or you do 25% of your units if you have over 6 units or something along these lines.The only way I'd advise STRs in Chicago would be if you are going operate a business to scale and had the resources/local knowledge to do so.I'd actually highly suggest Michigan because there is WAY LESS restrictions.

So although the common wisdom or recommendation is to talk to a lawyer (which I did) I'm getting conflicting advice on this whole issue of Wyoming LLCs and the level of protection and anonymity they actually provide.
