I bought a foreclosure last year where the previous owner had painted a bunch of fruity colors all over the basement ceiling.

Design to me is just knowing what colors to use, what materials, and how to put it all together to make it look nice for the area. 

Keep the colors light and bright and glass enclosures and it will appear bigger.
