I would consider this even with house-hacking as I would not want the tenant next door having such convenient access for questions, concerns or requesting favors/leniency.

I am sure there are all kinds of different reasons why but a lot of times it is that they don't want you coming inside the house to make the repairs so they put off reporting it until a convenient time for them.

I think drip tastes a little better, but for STR where convenience is very important, K is much easier to make, you get exactly the right amount, and there's practically no cleanup.
