My initial reaction is to think that it could actually be a wise move to keep the very special character of the neighborhood while everything around it are letting almost anything go.

This may be market driven.  

My feeling is renters are moving toward more value-driven living than lux.   

Most of the pricing will be driven by 1st time home buyers and things of that nature though.

I bought my first condo in 1992 in my hometown (Boulder, CO) and countless times have driven by it in the normal course of the day.

From what I have read @Alexis Yeakel, there has been so much influx of STR owners in the area that it has driven the nightly rates down for most owners.

I am super driven and motivated but seem to have no success.

I will however make another observation - capitalizing full words and bolding strings of characters doesn't make it more correct or give it more weight; from an online perspective, it makes the poster seem hysterical and a zealot.

He has proven to be a good agent and of genuine character.

Of course, you will need to educate yourself in how to vet operators, research markets, learn about different asset classes and analyze deals - but your results will be driven by professional asset managers that have full time jobs in their markets and asset classes and it is hard for an investor to beat these professionals.If you are set on investing in turnkeys - go for it!
