I challenge anyone who says that a free-and-clear personal residence is a liability to say, truthfully, that on a PFS (Personal Financial Statement) that they would claim their F&C residence in the liability column when calculating their net worth.

Alternatively, if you are betting the property will appreciate and you can sell down the road and collect tax free gains, you may not care about the monthly cash flow.I don’t like relying on things outside of my control to determine if an investment is successful.
