I’m having a hard time finding information on the financing piece of how house hackers build their real estate portfolio – is this plan generally sound?

@William Coet this is likely going to be quite variable and be determined by your relationship with the institution you are seeking to do business with. 

Investors are also looking for advice on building their entire portfolio instead of people pitching one deal at a time. 

The square footage of the building can dictate whether or not additional residential rental units can be present.

I am wanting to purchase land and build a small cabin to STR (& personal use) in the North GA Market. 

Please share reading material , getting started guides or books that might help.I am currently based out of the San Francisco Bay area and I am looking to invest within a 2-3 hour driving range.RegardsYour main goal is to understand the market (demographics, traffic volumes et cetra) and understand what makes a good deal (look at what has actually sold and at what price combined with building out a pro formas to understand it).

Should I refi and get extra cash immediately or should I refinance and lower my payment to build better cash flow?
