For instance she would tell me we needed to send someone out to snake the main drain line of the house because it was clogged.

However it is also common to find the cold water feed snaking from unit to unit rather than there being a direct run from a manifold in the basement,  Can it be changed?  

The plumber will charge a lot less to snake out a clog if he doesn't have to remove the trap.

Right now, I have a 3000 square foot house that is 100 years old and needs sprinklers installed, some shrubs planted, cleaning throughout, touch up paint only where it needs doing, snaking out drain lines, fixing some broken windows, etc. etc.

So we had to snake from the clean-out point in the basement....which of course was drywalled over.

I am  just going to cut the head off the snake and giving the "managing" tenant their 30 day notice.
