And your net worth will thank you.If you still want to go ahead, you'd be better off buying a house than an apartment because, while the value of the building itself will go to 0, you'll still have the value of the land, bearing in mind that the land might actually lose value too given the depopulation and the yen depreciation.Sorry if I'm pooping a party but make sure you understand what you're getting into (which you're already doing by asking the forum) and then make the decision that's right for you according to your objectives.

that is a perfectly fine strategy - it's just very difficult to do at a distance.as others have said, house hacking if done right shouldn't close off other strategies.hope this helps - trying to be realistic not discouraging.

Which brings me to another question; the agreement states that the homebuyer/occupant will retain home owners insurance on the property and list the lender as loss payee or first lien holder on the insurance for the life of the loan and yes I know it's in the agreement that was signed but I am wondering if by law it's even required once it used to be 20% but now it's 10% of the loan has been paid off, even big traditional mortgage lenders will remove PMI costs after 10% has been paid off.
