However, if I had an unusually large window that didn't take standard curtains, then I'd provide the window treatment and choose a basic neutral color.

We'll have had what seems like a valuable conversation, and then they will ask what color house I prefer, or what the "1% rule" is, or if I prefer wood/metal fences.

Technically, under this scenario, the vent does not appear to constitute a "structural" change, it may also not constitute a change to the exterior (it depends on what the HOA guidelines say), most of the time an exterior change has to do with adding/deleting doors, windows, and changing the  facade and color.

Had seen it online on a different type of siding, with that exact color combo of white, blue, yellow door and looked much better.
