The reason I 'revived' this thread is that I happen to be in a somewhat similar position, although different role.

The good news is that we are having a beer after the new year ;-)There seems to be agreement that intent and timing play a key role.

Some of that may stem from the success you had in your previous role at the company you left.

I tend to think that might be the more prudent way to do it versus assuming that role oneself.

So to make it a business, you need to hire someone to take over the roles.

I have seen a few, what seem like very small details, play a huge role in the success of investors.  

I worked  for this company for three and a half years in a compliance related role due to a company rotational program. 

The market is insane in our area so this is the only pivot I can see with greatest ROI in the near future.

They argued it was not their role to regulate copyright infringement.

You should walk away from the meeting with ideas for your business plan or accounting strategy that you didn't have before.If your CPA/EA isn't comfortable stepping into a quazi CFO role during the course of the conversation, could they really be a trusted business adviser?
