Here is a good rule of thumb:If you can live in one unit for the same amount of money (or something similar) as it would cost you to rent it, then likely the deal is worth it.

@Gary LeeAs someone who manages a debt fund- the only time we would do something like that would be if the borrower had significant number of other assets with equity and we would also cross collateralize them and get a personal guarantee.If you have little to no net worth then the answer is no.

The higher our value, the higher the equity gain is - even if the % of gain is equal between the properties...the dollar amount is higher on the higher valued home because the property is worth more.
