It made me wonder if this show on TlC was fake, how many other DIY and house flipping shows are fake.

That's ridiculous and obviously he/she doesn't know how to install a header beam.

It also helps to have an unbiased building/energy consultant (ahem, like me) rather than individual HVAC installers or contractors (who are trying to milk as much $ from you as possible) to help prioritize energy renovations.

If you give a product or service to someone on installment payments or any sort of deferred payment system, then it's some sort of loan.

If you want to take the DIY method for it, bring it home, stack it with little boards in between it for airflow, tarp it and set off 3-4 bug bombs under the tarp.  

An auto mechanic doesn't tell you how much he paid for the parts he is installing.

Perhaps if  / when I invest in RE, I will seek out the same kind of partner / advisory service / coaching that I currently get with stock and options investing, rather than trying to learn it all from scratch and DIY.  

I've heard that the vinyl tile with the adhesive on the back is a no brainer to install DIY.

The teflon tape disintegrates as its installed.

If that is the case, you would have to put in a sump pump which can be expensive to install and a difficult to maintain.
