So at least if what I am ripping out was a complete write-off I am at least getting it at a price that justifies ripping it out.Anyway, long story short, I pre-loaded the work, as is my custom, and by the beginning of 2015 I had a fully rehabbed and soon thereafter fully rented Duplex!

The bigger banks aren't as concerned with customer service.If it's a true financial hardship for you to give an extension, you could ask them to release the contingency so at least you'll be compensated if it doesn't close.
