I think while it's required in some aspects, because to many people are good at selling horrible assets, it has became the source of the problem the SEC is trying to stop IMO. 

I build custom cars as my hobby, so I'm the last one to ask :) I dump stupid $$ into my cars because that's my vice..... don't travel much, don't buy nice clothes or eat out a lot...for me that my one "stupid decision" with $$...everything else I'm pretty good with...About a year ago I bought I used 2016 Challenger Hellcat for 55k.....20k under the original price...had 830 mi on it....and I paid cash....was that a stupid financial decision....yes....but oh boy is that car FUN :) and its was a "treat" for myself.... life is too short to make every decision in life about $$... you cant take it with you.My daily drivers are different....buy low mileage used majority of time....majority of time with cash, but if I can get a really cheap rate I'll finance it for awhile, use my cash to make other $$ and pay it off quickly....but did buy my wife a new 2013 Eqiunox because that's what she wanted and "happy wife, happy life" Is no jokeBottom line.....vehicles are horrible investments...so just make sure you make the decision based on the right reason

I'm a proud SF Bay Area girl, born in SF, parents were young struggling immigrants (dad's family was interned in the horrible camps during WW2 sadly & mom became a naturalized proud citizen) but even faced with a lot of discrimination they loved America, JFK, the vision of dreams for prosperity.

(Psych studies are just horrible anyway, haha.

Have you ever read a post on one of these forums saying something like, “I would never invest in California/Detroit because it is a horrible place to invest.”

@Meir Greenblatt bad for me because I inherited a building with 1990’s rent,and I didn’t raise them until April.My ace in the hole,I guess,is that the bathrooms are in horrible shape,and I can probably evict people for substantial remodeling.I sunk quite a bit of money fixing termites damage,bad stucco,roofs.It was all exterior.

And many of them are horrible.  

You can say I'm a horrible person for saying that out loud, but the fact is that when it comes down to it, the majority of people living there feel the same way.
