I simply respond "I'm not prepared to discuss other offers."

A good lesson is to never sign off on a change order unless it has been discussed, shown to you, and you and he agree it is extra and the price is reasonable.

If you only have a couple thousand in the bank, you're pretty limited in what you can do, unless you find the alternative financing options that so many on these forums discuss.

Find one through BP who is familiar with flips and have a discussion about your criteria.
